Synopsis
The Play critically looks at one of the most enduring political legacies in Africa. It takes the audience through very emotional routes of loss, bitterness and envy in arriving at the most heralded destiny of immortality and greatness. Chief Obafemi Awolowo bestrode the stage like a real life colossus, becoming a fine imprint and pillar in the story that is Nigeria.
AWO – the musical, however, takes a mischievous turn by telling the story from the eyes of his ‘jewel of inestimable value’. Lagos audiences sat there in awe as the story unveiled the very passionate and emotionally laden visage of HID as she contended with the twin tragedy of losing her son and an imprisoned husband.

This is a continuation of our mission of telling and retelling our positive historical stories for the coming-of-age leaders to remain inspired. AWO remains an indelible figure in the history of our Nation. His very colourful and deep contributions remain the pillar of Nation building as we continue to leverage on his philosophy and performance in trying to rebuild our great country.
With over 300,000 Nigerians in the UK making up 0.5% of the population provides a deep two -way market for Nigerian business and leveraging on Awo wil provide a veritable vehicle to ‘farm’ the market.
There is a huge appetite amongst Nigerians in the diaspora for Nigerian entertainment especially theatre as it gives them a better connection with their heritage. AWO will pull in the crowds providing sponsors a deep and engaging pull for close ended distribution and placement of their goods and services.
